Daily Post: April, 15

   Tuesday: Well, today I didn't go to my internship because, a problem with my teeth a new one is growing and that one hurt a lot, and listen you don't want to know how much. So I don't have to many thing to say just that I'm really sorry that I couldn't go.

  Monday: Today in my internship I didn't do much at all I just help my mentor co-worker organize some stuffs like paper, and files or and they were asking me about what happened with my grandmother because she didn't know about it so we spend like half a hour just talking about that so today was a nice day, where I just did easy works and I really like it I hope all the days could be just like this one, is not so good work for free you know so that's why I don't like it some much. 

Weekly Vocabulary

1. Word / Phrase: Rubi

Meaning: Is a kind of diamonds that is use to rings, earrings, ect..

Context: I saw my grandmother wearing a rubi on her neck.

2. Word / Phrase: Signtholder

Meaning: Is a company on the diamond trading company's.

Context: The new Signtholder is expected to be release in April, 2008. 

3. Word / Phrase: Gemstone 

Meaning: Is a piece of attractive mineral use it to make jewelry.

Context: The Ambar's Company made a nice piece of jewelry with gemstone.

4. Word / Phrase: Speciality 

Meaning: A special quality. 

Context: That Car have a new speciality to decrease pollution.

5. Word / Phrase: Sag

Meaning: Way down.

Context: Yesterday in my internship everything was so sag because we didn't anything to do.

Third Week Assignment

       Well now I'm going to share with you about a work that they Have give it to me recently that's about organizing stuff, to be specific I were give a hard work because this wasn't just take this paper and put it into a box, not that wasn't like that I wish.

    My work was to take a big amount of paper like 100-200 paper, and go into a private office where all the personal documents were resting in peace hahaha you can know what I mean, well whatever back to the point I had to organized that amount of papers by account and costumer numbers, and also bill number that is by what kind of company this correspond is not as easy as I just said it because, into that room there were a lot of box with a specific name and account number so I had to find the correspond box for each paper that I had. For me as a freshman in there was a goal for me, that not matter what had to do it had to be complete. 

Second Week Assignment Part 2

What did you do during your second week?
     well during my second week I started to do hard works like using excel, to be specific they started to make me do bills about all the products that have been sold for the past 4 months. And archive some papers of our clients.

How was it different than the first week?
     It was a lot of different the second from the first because, in the first they took me easy they just gave me the easy one to let me know all the simple steps of how it work.

What is something that you really like about the internship?
     What I really like about it is the time, yea the time is super fast when I'm working that's what I most like about my internship I guess or and watch my teammates do their works is really nice because, some day I want to do it just like that.

What is something you dislike about the internship?
   I guess I like everything about it to be exactly.

The End of the First Week of Internships

What is it?
well it's a company where people like my mentor is in charge of make business with other companies to sell their products.

What kind of business is it and what kind of work do the professionals do there?
Ok the kind of business there is diamonds, where the professionals in charge of it just take those diamonds and make the shape of it depend of their designs because you can know that each kind of company have their own designs ok that's what their do but, that's not everything because there are other peoples who are in charge of talk to those company about the products to make them buy it.

Where is it?
It's located in 35th Street, and 8 Ave.

Tell a little about your mentor.
well my mentor is just a nice person that's all I can say about her because, she is nice always asking me about me like how I'm doing, are you hungry so many thing like that.

What happened on the first day?
on my first day was just other works that I had, meeting with my others teammates, and telling me what I'm going to do in my job.

What kinds of things have you done so far?
far away I just have done paper stuff like organizing all those papers by account number and things like that.

What were some of the highlights of the first week? (Memorable moments, cool things...)
well some of my highlights that I could say in my first week are that I was nervous because, my new jobs was going to be business company, and I were worry for something wrong that i could make there.

When do you leave school?
I leave school at 12:00 o'clock

How long does it take you to get to your internship?
It take just like 35 to 40 minutes to get there.

When do you arrive at home?
I arrive at home like a hour after I get out of my job.

What is your schedule? (What days do you work and for how long each day?)
I work monday-thursday, 1:00-4:00 o'clock.

Who are the two people that can sign your time card? (Your mentor and the additional person)
The other person who can sign my time card is my mentor co-worker.

February 15 Question

Tell a little about yourself.
Ok if I'm going to tell you something about myself it's simple I just have to let you people know that I'm friendly, almost all the time happy, and what I most like to do that I can say it for my own opinion is that I like to help my friends when they need it I don't know is just that i fell fine doing it.

-What did you learn in the junior internship seminar class up to this point?
I could say that I have learned the principles of act in our jobs, i think.

-What is your greatest fear about internship?
My greatest fear is work for free of course that's what we're doing in this moment, so that is my fear
work for free.

-What is your greatest hope for the internship?
My greatest hope can be for my internship is do what i can to see if i could keep my job in summer.

-What is your internship site and what are you going to do there? If you do not know, what do you think you will be doing?
Well my internship site is a company where I'm going to talk to other companies like macy's, making business with them, and organizing stuff like paper putting them into the right place.

-What will you miss about going to high school as you normally did for the last 2.5 years?
Well, what i'm going to lose is some classes, and some teacher explaining things but, is great lol.

Midpoint Reflection Question

How has the internship been the same as and/or different than your expectations?
My intership has been different from my expectations because, I expect like more work to do than I've done until now what I mean is like more hard works, things that i know that I can learn not something that I already know.

What is similar and different about the culture of the school environment versus the workplace environment? What new skills have you learned that apply to the workplace?
Things differents about the culture of the school environment and my workplace environment is that in my work place I don't play at all and in the school most of the things that I do is joke a lot because I've all my friends there, and in my workplace I already have friends but you know that in a place like that where the environment is tense, not only I but everybody else have to give a responsible expression of her or himself to let our boss know that we are there to really do our works. New skill that I have alredy learned is to used Excel is the program that we almost do in my work but, is not that they teach me how to used ti thet thing is that I already knew how to work on it, they just show me some tricks of it.

What kind of relationship do you have with your mentor and co-workers? How have you grown as a result of interacting with professional adults?
My kind of relationship that I have with them is excellent, really excenllent because we play a lot when we don't have any work to do of course, and she is always asking me about my family, or if I'm hungry. I have grown as a result of this in tne way that know in this moment i know what is really work with bussines people.

What challenges at the internship have you faced that you have overcome and how did you overcome them?
One challenge that I have to really faced is when I went to my country for a family emergency, I lost a lot of hours and now I'm just trying to earn time to ge up.

What challenges have you faced in school as a result of the altered schedule and how are you handling them?
Some challenges that I have to face now with the problem that I have to work after school is that I really don't have the time that I had before to do my homework, so what I'm trying to do is do all the hw that I can in my workplace.

What goals are you working to accomplish during the remainder of the internship?
try to complete the lost hours that I've.

What new things have you learned about New York City?
I've learned how the bussiness work here.
